Quad & Buggy
Between the infinite blue of the Indian Ocean and the emerald green endemic forests of the South, lies Frederica Nature Reserve: some 1,300 hectares of pristine vegetation and breathtaking views. Nestled in the Domaine de Bel Ombre, Frederica invites you to reconnect with nature while exploring the many treasures of the Mauritian biodiversity.
We booked the quad biking 2.5 tour of the reserve via our hotel the Heritage Awali Golf Resort and spa.
The hotel runs transport to and from the reserve base only a couple of minutes away from the Heritage resorts which is handy. Upon arrival we were given a brief safety briefing from our tour guide ‘Lovin’. We were also given a test drive round a small circuit to get us familiar with the controls before heading out to the reserve. You are also offered jackets – take these as you will get mucking, wear old clothes and boots too as the path to the waterfall is muddy and slippy.
The tour itself is around 2 hours with a stop at the waterfall. Both the views and the trails are spectacular, we felt safe but adventurous at the same time. This is a must if you are staying in Mauritius.
Photographers are out on the course taking pictures of you whizzing by and you can pick up the disc of photos for £20 which is reasonable for the memories it gave us.
A great experience, thoroughly recommended.
